Chad Rancour

Stockholm, Sweden (Brooklyn Park, MN)

NWF Years: 1986 - 1987

No titles held.

Chad Rancour entered the NWF on April 12th, 1986 by calling the NWF Hotline while watching the show. When he first came in, he was used to replace Jason Aanenson as Mr. X II. But a few weeks later, he also wrestled as his own character of Dr. Destruction Chad Rancour.

At first Chad was a babyface as he teamed up with Crossen, but in the summer of 1986 when he teamed up with The Ice Dragon, he became a heel. But because of his good looks and popularity with the ladies at ringside, Dr Destruction often received more cheers then boos.

Chad’s style was very solid, and he had natural ring abilities so he did not take long to learn any of the moves. Chad also had some fundamental armature wrestling background as well, which never hurts.

In the early days, Chad had matches with the likes of The Ice Dragon, The Invaders, and The Mr. Nice Guys. But once he turned heel, he then faced Crusher Crossen, Kid USA Kelsey, and Dr. Death.

Chad’s interview style was always entertaining, as he always had something interesting to say at the microphone, as he was never short for any words.

In the summer of 1986, Chad and Chris Downs (The Ice Dragon) were both suspended for a short period due to conflicts behind the scenes, but Chad would be back by the fall of 1986.

Chad made his final appearance at Superstars Spectacular ‘87 on August 23rd, 1987 at the Anoka Armory. He was late for his match, but participated in the Battle Royal. The NWF will never forget the flamboyant Dr. Destruction Chad Rancour.
