Troy Otto
Moscow, USSR (Blaine, MN)
NWF Years: 1985 - 1987
NWF 6-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPION.
Troy Otto was recruited by Steve Engstrom in the summer of 1985 making his NWF debut on June 8th, 1985. Because Troy had shaved his head that summer, he was asked to portray himself as a russian, and was given the name Bull Dog Butcher.
Troy was a somewhat big sized kid for his age, so his style was just using pure brute force in most of his matches. On his first taping in June, he was featured in a 11-Man Battle Royal on the main event. That summer, he had started a feud with Jumpin’ Johnson as well as Crusher Crossen and Kid USA Kelsey.
Bull Dog Butcher along with The Russian Destroyers would capture the NWF 6-Man Tag Team Championship in January of 1986, but then would lose it back to Team USA at Superstars Spectacular ‘86 from the Anoka Armory.
In the summer of 1986, Bull Dog Butcher would team up with Slick Steenerson and having a combined weight of nearly five hundred pounds, they would call themselves The Dream Team.
Bull Dog Butcher’s wrestling career would come to an end at the Anoka Armory Sumer card on July 26th, 1986 in a staged injury from in a match with The Barbarians. However, Troy would still remain active with his Bull Dog Butcher character throughout the rest of the year doing color commentary.
Bull Dog Butcher played an important role in the NWF, providing a great heel character both in the ring and on the microphone as a match commentator.
