Along with his friend Charley Lane, Shawn Crossen created the NWF back in 1984 and became the leagues first World Champion. In the early days, he had many matches against the likes of Todd the Killer Kampa, Tuffer Daniels, and Merciless Mike Ackerman.
After losing the title to Ackerman on Show #7 in 1984, Crossen had numerous matches with Jeff Ortel and Jackknife Jacob, and would win back his World Title later in 1984 from Jackknife Jacob. Shortly after that, Killer Kampa would defeat Crossen for the belt, but Crossen would win it back again from Kampa in a rematch later that year.
1985 was a huge year for Crossen, and by the end of the summer, he and Kelsey managed to win the NWF National Tag Team Titles and the 6-Man Tag Team Titles on two occasions with partners Brian Peterson and Mr. X, all while keeping their World Tag Teams belts all at the same time. In addition, in the fall of 1985, Crossen captured both the NWF National Title and the Florida State Championship as well.
By the end of 1985, Crossen would win the NWF World Title for the 4th time in his career defeating his former partner and friend, Kid Kelsey.
1986 was a busy year for Crossen, he had countless battles defending his World Title against the likes of Pretty Boy Taylor, Mr. X, Tokyo Terror, Bull Dog Butcher, The Barbarians, Mr. Macho and many others. Towards the end of the year, Mr. X would win the title from Crossen, but only to lose it back to him in a rematch a month later in Brooklyn Park, MN.
1987 had Crosssen defend his World Title against Slick Steenerson in the spring, and in the fall, Crossen would lose the title to his former friend and partner, Kid Kelsey at Superstars Spectacular ‘87 from the Anoka Armory.
In 1988, Crossen teamed up with his former arch enemy Dr. Dread and together they defeated The Destructors to win the NWF World Tag Team Titles. This was Crossen’s third time as a tag team champion.
