Corporal Clauson

Jason Clauson was brought into the NWF in late 1985 making his debut on October 6th, 1985 as recruited by Matt Kelsey. At first, Jason was came in as just a wrestler under the name "Corporal Clauson". However, Jason found himself doing play by play during other matches as we did not have a regular for that at the time.

On Jason’s 2nd taping, he decided to change his wrestling character to "Scorpion Clauson" where he wore a Japanese bandana around his head. This character was short lived, and taking the advice of his new friend Shawn Crossen, Jason would go back to using his "Corporal Clauson" character.

In 1985, Clauson faced opponents such as Brian Peterson, Killer Kampa, and Slick Steenerson. In 1986, he would meet in the ring the likes of The Tokyo Terror, Bull Dog Butcher, and The Russian Destroyers.

At Superstars Spectacular ‘85 (which was actually taped in January of 1986 due to a location delay), Corporal Clauson actually filled in for Kid USA Kelsey as the third member of Team USA in the main event in defending the NWF 6-Man Tag Team Championship against The Russian Destroyers. Team USA lost that match.

At Superstars Spectacular ‘86, Corporal Clauson was originally signed to be the partner of Kid USA Kelsey and Sgt. Smash in representing Team USA for the rematch with The Russian Destroyers. However, Jason decided to retire the character about a month prior to the actual event. As a result, Rough Ryan was substituted in his place.

The Corporal Clauson character was very important in NWF history as he came in during a time of many other foreign characters making their debuts shortly after his. And the instant rivalries with the likes of The Russians and Tokyo Terror will always be remembered forever.
